Al-Hayatt Hospital

Project Highlights |
The Awdal region of Somalia is inhabited by more than one million people. The entire region has no medical facility with modern medical equipment and supplies. As a result people, especially women and children, continue to die of very basic, preventable and/or treatable diseases such as TB, viral and bacterial infections, and malaria. AL-Hayatt Hospital is a project designed to fill this void and save lives.

Objective |
|
Amoud Foundation plans to build Al-Hayatt Hospital in the city of Borama, capital of this vast region in war-torn Somalia. The project is scheduled for completion by January 2007. This medical facility will save thousands of lives who would otherwise have succumbed to very basic, treatable diseases. |
We are counting on our supporters around the world to help us make this project a reality and save lives. This poor community that lost everything in the Somali Civil War is counting on us. As a Somali proverb says, “Nin lagu seexdow ha seexan”—translation: “Those of you whose vigil allows others to sleep well should not fall asleep yourselves. |
